With its fine scenery, rolling countryside, secluded rural villages, historic towns and cities, it is little wonder that so many TV series and movies have been filmed on location in Yorkshire.  There is so much to see and do it is difficult to know where to start! Centuries of history can be witnessed in the formidable abbeys and ancient towns whilst the scenery is a striking as it is varied.  This holiday is a delightful blend of some of the very best of Yorkshire.

Hardwick Hall

Suggested Holiday Hotels:

4* Thorpe Park Hotel & Spa is situated to the east Leeds and accommodation is reserved for four nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.  All en-suite guest rooms feature tea/coffee making facilities, complementary high speed Wi-Fi, trouser press and steam iron.
During your stay you will have unlimited use of the Spa facilities which include a large inviting pool, whirlpool and steam room.  Hotel facilities include restaurant and an elegant and chic bar.


Suggested Tour Itinerary:

Day 1
Depart during the morning and travel north to Hardwick Hall near Chesterfield. This is a National Trust (NT) property. NT members will gain free entrance, and non members will be required to pay the appropriate admission fee on arrival. During the mid afternoon we rejoin the coach and make our way to our hotel, the 4* Thorpe Park Hotel & Spa which is situated to the east of Leeds.  Accommodation is reserved for four nights on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.  

Day 2
After breakfast the coach will depart for Ripon, where entrance and a guided tour of the Cathedral are booked for 10.30 hrs.  After the visit you will have free time prior to the coach departing during the afternoon for Fountains Abbey, which is another NT property. Non NT members will be required to pay the admission fee..      

Day 3
After breakfast the coach will depart for Bolton Abbey near Skipton, where a guided tour is included. From here we will drive through The Dales, via Aysgarth and Hawes to Garsdale Head, arriving in time to board a train at 15.35 hrs for a single journey on the picturesque route to Settle.  The journey includes Dent - the highest mainline station in England, and the breathtaking Ribblehead Viaduct. The journey will take approx. 30 minutes, therefore upon arrival in Settle you may have free time prior to your coach arriving. 
Tonight’s evening meal will be held in a private function room at the hotel and will have a Yorkshire Theme including a complimentary glass of wine or beer.  

Day 4
Today’s excursion takes us to Haworth where we will meet a local guide for a walking tour of the village famed as the home of the Brontes.  After the tour, group entrance is included to the Bronte Parsonage. During the afternoon the coach will depart for Leeds and the Royal Armouries, the United Kingdom’s National Museum of Arms and Armour, including artillery. You will have free time here before returning to the hotel.

Day 5
After breakfast we must check out of the hotel, the coach will then depart for  Saltaire, a designated World Heritage Site, named after Sir Titus Salt who built a textile mill and village on the River Aire. Upon arrival we will meet a local guide for a 1½ hour walking tour of the village finishing at Salts Mill, where you will have free time to explore the galleries including works of art by David Hockney, along with several shops and places to eat. 

During the mid afternoon we rejoin the coach for the journey back to your local area, arriving during the early evening.
