The hugely popular Gilsland Hall Hotel, sits proudly in 140 acres of manicured garden and natural woodland in an idyllic countryside location with spectacular views over the Cumbrian and Northumberland countryside. The hotel enjoys a great reputation in the group travel market for its food, daily tea dance and regular entertainment. Accommodation is reserved on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis, with a daily tea-dance and nightly entertainment
Day 1- Depart from your local area during the morning and travel north making a short comfort stop en-route to the impressive Barton Grange Garden Centre, here you will have time for lunch (not included) and good look around. Afterwards, we will continue our journey north into Cumbria and the Gilsland Hall Hotel which is ideally located on the border of Cumbria and Northumberland. After checking in, an hour-long tea dance is held daily at 17.30hrs, after which you’ll have your evening meal, followed by entertainment.
Day 2 - After breakfast, the coach will depart during the mid-morning for a short excursion to Hexham, one of Northumberland’s most beautiful and historic market towns, with today being Market Day. After time at leisure, we will depart during the mid-afternoon for the journey back to the hotel.
Day 3 - A full day excursion, calling first at Silloth, a hidden gem on the Cumbria coast. From here we continue, via the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake, to Keswick, a popular market town positioned a short stroll from the shores of Derwent Water. You will have time at leisure in Keswick for lunch (not included) prior to departing during the mid-afternoon for the journey back to the hotel.
Day 4 - After breakfast, the coach will depart for Gretna Green for a short stop. From here, we will continue over the border into Scotland and the town of Dumfries where there will be free time prior to returning to the hotel during the afternoon.
Day 5 - After breakfast we must check out of the hotel and travel to Carlisle. From here passengers can pre-book and pay for a breath-taking train journey from Carlisle to Settle, the approx. 1½ hour journey will take you over some of the famous viaducts and scenery on this picturesque line. There is an additional cost of this single train journey which must be booked and paid for in advance. For those passengers not wishing to book the optional train journey, the coach will take you Settle where all passengers will have free time prior to departing during the mid-afternoon for the journey back to your local area.
