Christmas market time in Germany is always special. You can soak up the unrivalled seasonal spirit in some of Germany's enchanting and appealing riverside towns and villates, with festive traditions dating back to the 12th century on our special tour.
Accommodation is reserved for 3 nights at the 4-star Amber Hotel in Hilden, situated approximately 10 miles to the south west of Dusseldorf. All the bright, modern rooms of the Amber Hotel are tastefully furnished and hotel features include a restaurant and bar.
Day 1
Depart during the morning from your local area and travel to Folkestone, arriving in time to check-in for a Eurotunnel service to Calais. From Calais, the coach will continue to Germany stopping en route for comfort breaks and to give you the opportunity for a light lunch. We continue to our hotel – the 4* Amber Hotel, in Hilden, arriving during the late afternoon. Accommodation is reserved for three nights on a bed & buffet breakfast basis, with an evening meal included on the first evening.
Day 2
After breakfast, the coach will depart for the short journey into Dusseldorf. Dusseldorf in Advent is an exciting mix of Christmas markets and shopping delights, especially around the Königsallee where the Sternchenmarkt and five other theme markets lead the way along the most popular shopping streets. During the late afternoon, the coach will return to the hotel, and allow members the option to either relax at the hotel for the remainder of the evening, or freshen up and return on the coach to central Dusseldorf for more free time, departing from there during the mid-evening (approx. 21.00 hrs) or later dependent on the coach driver’s regulations. Members can of course choose to stay in town for the whole day returning to the hotel in the evening.
Day 3
After breakfast, the coach will depart during the mid-morning for the journey to Cologne, the city which offers seven Christmas Markets in total. Among them are four big Christmas Markets located at near the Cathedral, on the Alter Market, on the Neumarkt and on the Rudolfplatz. Every year these wonderful four Christmas Markets attract almost 2 million visitors. The Christmas Market at the Cologne Cathedral is the most impressive one in Cologne, due to the huge backdrop of the imposing Cathedral. The coach will depart from here during the mid-evening (approx. 20.00 hrs) or later dependent on the coach driver’s regulations, for the journey back to the hotel.
Day 4
After breakfast we must check out of the hotel and commence our journey back to Calais, stopping at place of interest en-route, before arriving at the Eurotunnel terminal in time to check-in for an early evening service back to Folkestone, from where the coach will continue to your local area.
